Not to be overlooked, Vice President Dick Cheney is a proud product of Wyoming.

Enzi addresses the turmoil in financial markets   9/26/08

Mr. President, I rise today to speak about the turmoil in our financial markets and the urgent need for a legislative solution. On Wednesday, Secretary Paulson and Chairman Bernanke wrapped up their sales pitch to Congress on how to best rescue our economy. The fact remains that there are as many questions today as there were before they got here, maybe more. The U.S. Treasury continues to ask Congress for a $700 billion check with as little accountability as possible about how to spend it. Secretary Paulson and Chairman Bernanke have opposed oversight, transparency, protections for taxpayers, and everything else except a check and an envelope to deliver it in.

We owe Americans more than just a rubber stamp on this proposal.  Each American is going to loan $2,300 for this plan.  For that price they want to know why it is necessary, where their money is going, and if the investment is going to work.  Unfortunately, I am completely disappointed with the answers so far.Read More
