Supreme CourtElena Kagan Hearings: The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Kagan's nomination in a vote of 13-6. One Republican, Sen. Graham (R-SC), voted in favor of Kagan's nomination. Her nomination will now go before the full Senate with a vote expected in the next few weeks.
10 Reasons to Call your Senator about the Kagan Hearings.

It's time to let your voice be heard on the Kagan nomination!

  1. Elena Kagan brings no judicial experience to the table.
  2. The Supreme Court will likely hear arguments on the constitutionality of Obamacare in the next few years. Elena Kagan could be the deciding vote on Obamacare.
  3. Elena Kagan is a political ideologue-she has worked for a string of liberal Democrats including: Bill Clinton, Janet Reno, Barack Obama and Eric Holder.
  4. As Dean of Harvard's Law School, Elena Kagan banned US military recruiters from the campus. She lost her battle when the Supreme Court unanimously upheld the law in 2006.
  5. Elena Kagan's stand on several social issues could demonstrate that she would impose personal views in her rulings instead of adhering to the law. We need justices who will strictly interpret the constitution.
  6. Elena Kagan has praised Israeli activist Judge Aharon Barak as "her hero." Judge Barak is considered to be one of the worst activist judges. In his book, The Judge in a Democracy, Barak writes, "a good judge is a judge who, within the bounds of legitimate possibilities, makes law that, more than other law he is authorized to make, best bridges the gap between law and society and best protects the constitution and its values. He also says that judges should go "beyond actually deciding the dispute."..more

Come Clean Mr President
To: President Barack Obama

We, the American people, were promised the "most transparent" administration in American history when you ran for office. After months of stonewalling, your administration releases a memo claiming Bill Clinton offered Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) an executive branch position if he dropped out of the Pennsylvania Senate race.

We need to know if you are giving away administration posts to get the White House's preferred candidate in office -- a clear violation of the law. We demand an impartial outside investigation by a special prosecutor into this matter .

It's time to come clean, Mr. President, and answer two simple questions for the American people: What was Bill Clinton authorized to offer Rep. Sestak? And did you sign off on this conversation before it took place? Everyone in the government is accountable to the American people, even you, Mr. President... sign petition

"The Failure of a Stimulus"

“Over a year ago, the American people placed an enormous amount of trust in President Obama to make good on his promises of renewed responsibility and a new era of political bipartisanship. However, when faced with an extreme economic downturn he used the crisis as a means to his liberal ends and with the help of his Congressional allies forced his failed $862 billion stimulus package on America.

“Today marks the one-year anniversary of this failed stimulus package, something the president still claims as one of his signature achievements and which he proclaimed would “create or save” 3.5 million jobs and keep unemployment below 8 percent. Since those early heady days of the Obama administration the American people have seen behind the curtain of rhetoric and watched as millions of jobs were lost and unemployment rose into the double digits.

“While the Democrats spend their President’s Day recess celebrating their stimulus bill, something Speaker Nancy Pelosi called “a hallmark achievement of this Congress,” the American people are faced with the daily consequences of broken promises and fiscal irresponsibility. The fact is over 20,000 Americans lost their jobs in the month of January, meaning more than 2.8 million Americans have lost their jobs since the stimulus passed. And let’s not forget the 136,000 workers whobecame discouraged last month from seeking work, bringing the total number of workers who have given up hope of finding a job to over 1 million.

“President Obama promised 3.5 million jobs would be created by December 2010 which means Democrats need to create 6.3 million jobs over the next 10 months to meet their own rhetorical standard, a level of job growth that has never been achieved in American history. The president might call his fiscal and job creation plans a “new foundation for prosperity,” but in reality his binge spending agenda sets the stage for the type of economic stagnation that would make even Jimmy Carter blush.”more

FEBRUARY 24, 2009: Obama Pledged That Joe Biden Would Lead "Unprecedented Oversight Effort" For $862 Billion Stimulus, "Because Nobody Messes With Joe." "Here in Washington, we've all seen how quickly good intentions can turn into broken promises and wasteful spending.  And with a plan of this scale comes enormous responsibility to get it right. That is why I have asked Vice President Biden to lead a tough, unprecedented oversight effort - because nobody messes with Joe." (President Barack Obama,

Exaggerated Job Counts From His $862 Billion Stimulus

School In Georgia Reported 280 Jobs Were Created By Stimulus, In Fact None Were Created. "At a small college in Georgia, $100,000 in stimulus funds paid for trucks for students to practice for commercial driver`s licenses. Another $100,000 went for a modular classroom. The school reported to the government that 280 jobs were created. In reality, not even close. That's the number of students who benefited. It has nothing to do with jobs." (CBS News's "CBS Evening News," 10/29/09)

In Florida, Pay Raises Were Counted As Stimulus Jobs. "In Cocoa, Florida, a childcare center reported 129 jobs created by a stimulus grant. In fact, no jobs were created. The money was really used to increase the compensation and benefits of 129 existing employees." (CBS News's "CBS Evening News," 10/29/09)

The Wall Street Journal Reported White House's Second Stimulus Job Count "Overstated By At Least 20,000." "The number of jobs the Obama administration credits to federal stimulus money could be overstated by at least 20,000 of the 640,000 claimed, a Wall Street Journal analysis found." (Louis Radnofsky and Mauria Tamman, "White House Appears To Overstate Stimulus Jobs," The Wall Street Journal,11/4/09) more

  • Ledbetter Act Will Depress Wages And Employment, Especially For Women. "The Ledbetter Act would also lead to myriad unintended consequences. Foremost, it would push down both wages and employment, as businesses change their operations to avoid lawsuits. Perversely, it could actually put women, minorities, and workers who are vocal about their rights at a disadvantage if employers attempt to reduce legal risk by hiring fewer individuals likely to file suit against them or terminating those already in their employ." (Andrew M.
